Eagle Run - 17th August

The Tident Willy F15 Eagle Run. RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk.

Jacko's last official RAT Run for Destination Triumph:

  • I had already decided to finish in September due to my trip to New Zealand to my daughter and grandchildren, but I have brought this forward due to the extraordinary circumstances that surround the departure of Bill Saker, Sales Manager at the Washington shop and protagonist in the growth of sales that has occurred since its inception back in 2007.
  • I think that Destination Triumph have made a bad judgement in dispensing with the services of a very experienced employee!
  • Bill's knowledge of the Triumph marque is second to none , especially when it comes to three cylinders! The original three pot phenomenon became one of his favourites; hence aka Trident Willy.
  • Bill has always been highly regarded by Triumph and accordingly he came to Destination Triumph highly recommended.
  • In additional to his previous years in the Triumph and classic bike industry, while working at the Washington shop he has built up a vast following of loyal customers and friends. Here is a typical quote; "I could of bought a Triumph from anywhere, but I wouldn't have had the after-care of friendship and touring!"
  • I know that from talking to many friends and customers over the last week, Bill will be greatly missed and Destination Triumph will definitely not be the same without him.
  • I am sure that I speak for all our readers: Good luck Bill!

The Eagle Run:

The rain appeared again, but seven riders turned out for the run up to Suffolk.
Thank you for your support!
Some went the motorway and some went the scenic way, giving us some great A and B roads to enjoy with lovely villages and towns to roll through.
The rain gradually left off as we worked our northwards, so no drowned RATs this time!

The Planes......................here they come..........

................................there they go..............................

Flight plan approved.........they all set off home................

.......except me. I decided to go to Swaffham, just thirty minutes up the road, to visit my relatives. But they weren't in.......so it was in the cafe for a lovely piece of apple pie and custard!

........and according to some famous faces on the café wall..............

........you have to force it down and never mind when its gone with the wind!

So fully fuelled up, it was home time.
The scenic route took me passed some impressive buildings;

Huntsman Motorcycle Show - July 25th

A really hot day and a fantastic local show run by the Huntsman Motorcycle Club at the Huntsman Pub, Eridge.

But first, a stop at Wessons café for a spot of breakfast, of course..................

..............plus a bit of over indulgence! Can't resist a nice piece of bread pudding?

On with the Show (no pop-quiz this time, just pictures):

Ride to Work Day - July 21st

Work? No!

Alton Station café revisited - this time it was open - ahem!

More like a 'Ride to Eat Day' if you ask me...............................

.......................look at the size of those meat balls?

Can I start please?......................................Don't bother me son, I'm busy!

The 'Railway Children'.......................................Oh Mr. Porter!
